Busy- busyhan kasi! Blog update part 1

It's been 4 months since the last time I updated my blog. I've been busy with work and SFC lately that I don't have enough time to post updates. Since I'm on a 10 day vacation that started last saturday, I'll post part 1 of the blog update series. heheheh.. Let's start with the month of August and September.

  • I turned 27 last August 14 and the first thing I did was to renew my driver's license. The guards at the LTO were giving me a hard time because they said that I can't renew my license because I only have a temporary license and some other crap. Fortunately I was able to talk to an officer and I was able to renew my license. Unfortunately, I just lost (again!) my driver's license a few days ago inside the car! I haven't checked the car yet so I don't know if it is really missing or I just misplaced it.

  • The Couples for Christ (CFC) community declared a split last August (the memo was released last August 14, my birthday!) forming 2 groups: CFC- Global Mission Foundation Inc, lead by the International Council and CFC- Foundation for Family and Life(FFL) lead by Tito Frank Padilla, former director of CFC. It’s really sad to know that one of the leaders who founded GK is now against it. And it’s really sad that a most of our members in Laguna joined FFL.

  • The Theunion August birthday celebrants (me, Kim and Ernest) celebrated at Ernest’s home. Carlo gifted me with a board game similar to Pictionary, called Cranium and we played it. It was a blast since it’s not the normal eat-out-and-roam-inside-the-mall kind of thing and it really brought out our funny and silly side.

  • DLSU lost 3 out of the 5 games against ADMU. But what's important for us was we defeated the Ateneans on the most crucial games: battle for the number 2 in the standings and the right to face UE, who had a rare 14-0 record in the elims, in the finals game. Special thanks to NU players who played their hearts out during their 2nd round match against ADMU and defeated them in OT (forgot the score), giving us an opportunity to battle it out for the number 2 slot. Yey!

  • A month after the split, the SFC Laguna Community gathered for our monthly Provincial Leaders Assembly (PLA). It’s a really sad reality that only a few people stayed with the IC. It maybe God’s way of saying we have to go back to basics and focus on each members spirituality before encouraging others who were not yet in the community to join SFC.
I’m already sleepy so I’ll just post additional updates in the next few days. Till then..

Wish Lists

I just celebrated my birthday almost two weeks ago and I think it's appropriate to post my so- called wishlist. Hopefully, somebody would be insane enough to buy me one of these beauties! heheheh..

1. Laptop - A must have for every IT professional. I'm tired of using my dad's laptop just to finish my work and do some stuff for SFC. I already thought about the specs of the laptop that I want but unfortunately, laptops that I see in the market that have this specs cost around 60K pesos.

2. Camera Lens- I'm currently drooling (hehehe..) for a Canon 24-70mm f2.8L USM. It's a great walk around lens but too expensive. It costs around 50K pesos if you bought it a Canon store. I hope Randall would allow me to buy this! heheheh.. There's a cheaper alternative in the form of Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO. It costs around half the price of the Canon 24-70mm but (based on the reviews) is not as good as the Canon equivalent. I think I need to buy an external flash first before this. hehehehe... Click on this link to read more information about these lenses.

3. Creative Vision W- I'm wanting to buy this portable movie player since christmas. I saw this while we were checking out stuff for the raffle in our christmas party. At that time, a 30GB Vision W costs around 23K pesoso. I wonder how much this costs right now. I need to save up for this! heheheh... Click on this link for more information about this product.

4. Canon Powershot A640 - This is something that I would consider a "nice to have". I already have a Canon EOS 350D but I also want to have a decent P&S camera. Click on this link for more information about the item.

5. Sony Ericsson W660i Phone- I fell in love with Sony Ericsson cellphones ever since I got a Sony Ericsson K750i as a replacement for my Nokia N6600 last year. Now If ever my ever reliable K750i gives up on me, I want this cellphone as a replacement. I love that this phone is slim and light weight, aside from it has all the functions that my K750i have. Yahoo Photos is Closing

I was saddened by the news that Yahoo! Photos is shutting down on September because they want to focus on Flickr. Although I have a lot of photo galleries in the net (I think I have 6 photo galleries.), I prefer to use this because of unlimited storage space and size of pics uploaded. Good thing, I have a photobucket account (that I forgot that I have one) and Yahoo! Photos have this facility to migrate pics from Yahoo to Photobucket that made the transfer easy. I'm now thinking which photo gallery to use as my main photo gallery. As of the moment, I'm leaning towards, picasa. I'll try to explore photobucket and my other photo galleries and decide the purpose of each gallery. hehehehhe..

We're Back! We're One Lasalle!

Last saturday was the much awaited opening of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines or UAAP. It's also a special event for us because our school is coming back after serving a one year suspension. It's nice to see a sea of green cheering hard again for our beloved alma mater. I remember the days when I used to be one of "die hard" fans cheering hard for our team. I always make it a point to watch the saturday or sunday games live. I always come to the venue few hours before the game starts, eat lunch with a bunch of die hards I've met in a forum and join them in the bleachers in cheering for our beloved school. The most memorable experience that I have was when I file for a half day leave just to watch a DLSU-ADMU game. I can't remember who won that game but I do remember that it is one of the most controversial DLSU-ADMU game. I had so much fun watching the games live and I can't wait to watch another game live. Hopefully my schedule permits me to watch atleast a live game. ANIMO LASALLE!

Ang lambot naman ng kamay mo.. parang longganisa!

"Ang lambot naman ng kamay mo... parang longganisa!" - Randall

These are the words my boyfriend told me about my hand last sunday while having dinner at a local restaurant in Paseo de Sta. Rosa. I asked him to massage my hand because I felt that my hand is aching due to too much guitar playing the other night. I really can't help but laugh whenever i think about it. hahahahah.. How sweet!

Visita Iglesia.. The modern way

Yesterday, my mom woke us up at around 5:00am because we have to be in San Pablo Cathedral by 6am to attend the annual blessing of the holy oils. We used to attend this mass when we were kids, but since most of us are busy with work, especially my dad, we weren't able to attend the blessing of the oils mass. Anyway, the bishop was already giving his homily when we arrived at the Cathedral around 7am. My siblings and I are in our usual selves poking at each other like kids and my parents would always call our attention and tell us to stop. Hehehe.. The mass ended at around 8:30am and after that we had breakfast then went on with our visita iglesia. We visited around 7 beautiful old churches in the nearby towns and Im so amazed to see that the parishoners there really give money to the church. anyway, you can check out my photoblog entry for the pictures of the churches that we visited: http://joyruth.photoblog.com/user/joyruth/2007/04/05/ .
